Solemn Tridentine Rite Vigiliary Mass of All Saints

Join us for a Solemn Tridentine Rite Vigiliary Mass of All Saints, October 31st, in the Roman catacombs of S. Priscilla at 4pm.

The mass will be in Latin, but there will be missals for everyone in both Latin and English so as to follow the mass better. There will also be a choir singing traditional Gregorian chant in Latin. The homily will be in English.

Directions:
From Termini take either the bus 86 or the 92 (both very frequent).
Get off at Piazza Crati.
Cross Piazza Crati and go up Via di Priscilla until you will reach the staircase on the left.
Walk up the stairs to Via Salaria. Turn left.
On the left you will find the entrance to the catacombs of S. Priscilla at Via Salaria 430.

Please note: the map shows the best way to take by car. On foot you can simply walk straight.

If you want to come we can go as a group, if you wish. We are taking the 1:49 pm train from Santa Marinella to Termini. (Please note: this train does not stop at Stazione Aurelia. )
There may be a small fee to enter the catacombs (2-3 Euro). We are working on a special group fee.

God bless!

SMAFL

The weather is perfect. The beach is clear of umbrellas, sunbathers and landmines. Deer have begun their mating season. The time has come for SMAFL.

If you aren't familiar with the acronym, SMAFL = the Santa Marinella American Football League. Don't forget it. SMAFL is now in its third academic year, although it may only have been referred to as "football on the beach" in ancient times. It has almost been here as long as Jenn Kimball has.

Kickoff will be Sunday at 15:00, so aim to get there at about 14:30 when we will warm up by just tossing the pig skin around and then make teams. I'm sure we are all out of shape, so get there on time because the game won't last too long!

What is football in the fall without a little BBQ?! For those interested in such traditions, let's get together at our place at 17:00-17:30. That should give people time to rinse off after working up their appetite. If you would, please bring a little something such as a side or drink.

If you don't know where casa Lamers is, we are at Lungomare Marconi 14 off of Aurelia north of the main beach (see map). Look for the red gate and buzz Lamers.

If you can, please let us know if you will be coming to the game, BBQ, or both. You can leave a comment on this blog post or send me an sms.

Bello Speaks the Truth

Hello there Party People!

Just a quick note from Poland - I must first ask - if this was Chris Wells's Genius Idea... umm... where the heck is he on here?!?! Ahem! And also - just to re-iterate bello's point - even if you lead a normally busy life unlike the rest of us, these pages actually DO a great job of keeping people connected - and I am especially jacked about this cuz I can't be with you all for a little while - and besides - we gots Poole's in the States as well as some canadian family quickly fletcherizing DC!

So, get on board... these things take very little time to keep-up and do a world of good!

So, that being said - I'm comin to Rome to see your lovely faces on Oct. 28 - through Nov. 4... so, how abouts I propose a POKER GAME!! hehehe... yes, some things never change! I know that most of you have school going on and some are raising beautiful families --- so, let this bachelor attempt to throw a wrench in the machinery for a night of manly fun (and of course, I dont discriminate and also enjoy taking money from the ladies as well!!) So, as I dont have myself a home - someone want to host a night?! I've still got that lovely set of chips...

Anyways --- can't wait to see you all and look forward to reading what you've been up to on here!

Also, BELLO - I dont know who the other remaining 11 invites were for --- but I dont see the Gherings, Wunch's, Mr. Murphy, nor Charley Not-so-huge on here... so, anyways---

God Bless the Nella's and May God Bless Us All (yeah, so I borrowed that from W).
-Kunz

PS --- I do indeed cherish the picture of the Nella's that was posted for all to see... with my old home in the background and all... umm... but do we REALLY HAVE A ROUNDTABLE LIKE THAT IN THE NELLA'S????????? And if so... where the hell is it?! :)

A presto

C'mon, don't be shy!

We now have at least nine authors who can post on this blog, and eleven more invitations out there. We should get this thing rolling. In order to do so, I will answer questions I have heard concerning this process.

When I send you the invite, it will ask you to set up a google ID. This is not a big deal, and you will not be starting a new email account, although I do suggest switching to gmail. Simply enter an easy user name and password that will be used for logging you on to blogger so that you can post.

Posting is not difficult. Although there are more advanced options, they do not need to be employed. Its as simple as writing a message and clicking "PUBLISH". Adding photos is also very simple with blogger, as it automatically shrinks the file size to fit the blog.

So you do not need to be living in S. Marinella to post. Some of you are good friends that have moved away and might just want to stay in touch as well as keep your friends here updated on your life. Again, if you want to post and I haven't sent you an invite or you need another, email me at jonlamers@gmail.com.

I have to run to class. I hope this was helpful and that soon we all use this as an easy way to stay connected. Ciao for now...

Kickoff

First off, hats off to Chris Wells for hatching the idea for this blog. I think it will get put to good use. I don't have everyone's email address, so tell anyone who would want to be apart of this to email me at jonlamers@gmail.com, and I will email them back an invite to write on the blog.

I've added a section for links to any other blogs or websites that any of us author or contribute to. If you have one or know of one you feel deserves a link on our community blog, then please email me the name and URL and I will post it.

If you are looking for someones email address who happens to be a contributor to this blog, simply click on their name in the column to the right.

I will kick off the community announcements with a happy one: our baby boy Jerome has come home with us for the first time after a seven week hospital stay! He is doing well, but as he is still so small and his immune system is not yet fully operational, we will be laying low for a little while and trying to catch up on sleep. But we look forward to sharing him with everyone sometime soon! For more info on Jerome, see our blog First Came Love. Thank you all for the prayers and support!
