Housesitters Needed??

Hello all!
First things first -CONGRATS TO THE POOLE'S!!! Such wonderful news!

Secondly - it was fantastic to see y'all in the Nella's last week! It was a much needed visit!

Thirdly - my best friend from Grade School - and his new wife - y'all remember Shena Muldoon? well, they went and got hitched last spring - small world! Anyways - they are traveling to Rome around Christmas - and are looking to see if there will be any apartments that need looking after! And for that matter - even they asked:

"Do you know anybody who will be leaving Rome for the holidays and could use housesitters, or has space for unassuming guests?"

So, that being said, please let me know if any of you know of anything - they will be in Rome from Dec. 27 - Jan 4.

They mentioned that they would be able to help defray rent costs as well.

Anyways - they are awesome folks - so, if you got the space - and wouldn't mind a guest while you're there or not - please let me know!

Til next time - God Bless!!
-Kunz

Yeah!!!

The Pooles posted this great news as a comment on the previous blog post. I took the liberty of giving it the more prominent place it deserves...

Hey All!
So glad to hear that everything went well for Jerome, what a strong little guy he is! We're still praying for him and you all every day.

And speaking of that great market, i miss it dearly! Life in the USA is nice, but SM is a gem and we do miss it, and you all the most. Say hi to the olive guy for me and do enjoy all that fresh food and craziness! Remember, never buy from that "furba" stand, they will rip you off and totally disgust you at the same time!

Oh and FYI, did ya'll hear that we're expecting!?! The baby is due June 15, what a surprise and what a great gift! And we just bought a house and will be moving in about 2 weeks. Fun fun...

Greetings to all of you in SM from a cold dreary Minnesota!
Much love,
the Pooles

Home from hospital...again

Ciao tutti!

Just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and to let you know that Jerome's surgery went very well and that we just returned home today. After we hibernate for a few days, we look forward to seeing all of you around town. By the way, does everyone know about the great market we have here in Santa Marinella by Parco Kennedy on Thursday mornings? We'll be there, and if you go, then so will you. Sweet.

SMAFL

It has finally cooled off a bit, so football feels more appropriate. Also, we won't have to worry about all those pesky late October sunbathers this time round.

So to catch the sun while its still high, lets start the game at two. We won't be having a BBQ afterward this time, but perhaps we could have a beer at the gigi before going home. We had a great turnout last week and a great game. I expect more of the same.

Also, some people wanted to toss around a Frisbee. I don't have one, but if anyone else does...

See you there!

Balthasar on the Communio Sanctorum

For your spiritual edification throughout the month of all saints and deceased souls, I am posting von Balthasar's meditation on the Communio Sanctorem, as found in his work Credo. Meditations on the Apostles' Creed. -- Anthony

* * *

The Church is "the communion of saints" - in German, "the communion of the holy." This expression signifies first those "holy things," including above all the Eucharist, around which the Church assembles for purposes of her salvation and catholic mission. But precisely for that reason, the transition to "communion of holy persons" follows as an immediate consequence. And out of both, we have a glimpse into the unfathomable Mystery that, because Jesus "died for all," no one may any longer live and die for self alone (2 Cor 5:14f.); but that, in loving selflessness, as much of the good as anyone possesses belongs to all, which gives rise to an unending exchange and circulation of blood between all the members of the ecclesiastical Body of Christ. And precisely those members who are designated, in an eminent sense, as "holy" are like open treasure-houses accessible to all, like flowing fountains at which everyone can drink. Nothing in the communion of saints is private, although everything is personal. But "persons," in the Christian sense, are just such as, in imitation of the divine-human Person Jesus, "no longer live for themselves" and also no longer die for themselves.

It is here that the catholic and missionary task of the Catholica first becomes visible in its ultimate essence; in every instance, she anticipates, in prayer, devotion, sacrifice, and death for her brethren, that which she brings them through her outward missionary work. The proof: "little" Thérèse, as the patron saint of all missions.

--Hans Urs von Balthasar, Credo. Meditations on the Apostles' Creed
